What it is

Categories are a structure in TessaLink that allow users to customize searches by grouping tags.

Where I can find it

Categories can be found on the left-hand menu under “Asset Management”. It can also be found as a button next to “Tags” on any search screen.

Required licensing

Any account with an Asset Management license and the proper permissions

Use case

If a customer needs a certain nomenclature for the tags but wants them to be searchable by another name, they can use Categories. For instance, Company A might use part numbers for tags so their customers can search, but still want to be able to search by asset type. They could set up Categories for each, such as crane, that includes the tags for all parts in a crane.
